Ideally situated between Le Mans and Angers, the estate enjoys a peaceful setting surrounded by preserved countryside while remaining easily accessible via nearby motorway connections. A village with local amenities lies just 3 km away, while a larger town with full services and TGV rail connections is less than 10 km from the property, providing convenient access to Paris and western France.

At the heart of the estate stands the former abbatial residence of the monastery — an elegant and historically important château whose refined proportions and remarkable decorative richness reflect the prestige of its 18th-century transformation. Originally intended to host private occupants connected to the ecclesiastical world and aristocracy, the residence was redesigned during the mid-1700s as a refined country house, resulting in interiors of unusual sophistication and warmth that remain exceptionally well preserved today.

The château rises gracefully at the centre of the landscaped grounds, overlooking the formal courtyard of honour and surrounding parkland. Its classical façades, harmonious symmetry and tall windows immediately convey the elegance of the period, while the setting itself — bordered by mature trees, lawns and waterways — creates an atmosphere of complete serenity.

The principal entrance opens into a striking central vestibule paved with traditional cabochon stone tiles, positioned precisely on the main axis of the residence. This grand reception hall once connected directly to the monastery cloister and today remains one of the architectural highlights of the house. Decorative sculpted cartouches frame the internal doors, displaying refined Rocaille motifs, stylised foliage and carved medallions inspired by classical mythology and military symbolism.

To the left of the vestibule lies the magnificent grand salon, an extraordinary reception room bathed in natural light from four large windows overlooking both the courtyard and the park. Measuring over 10 metres in length, the salon preserves its original 18th-century decorative scheme, including ornate wood panelling, sculpted overdoors and rare stucco medallions representing the four seasons. These decorative works, created by travelling Italian craftsmen, are particularly rare in the region and contribute significantly to the château’s artistic importance. The monumental stone fireplace, decorated in the Rocaille style and originally painted to imitate marble, forms the centrepiece of the room, while the elegant proportions and ceiling height create an atmosphere of understated grandeur.

This wing of the château also includes a more intimate sitting room with tiled floors and wooden fireplace, a spacious kitchen and dining room with traditional terracotta flooring, as well as a private suite comprising a bedroom, dressing room and contemporary bathroom facilities. A discreet service staircase provides independent circulation between levels.

To the right-hand side of the vestibule, a richly appointed study with oak parquet flooring and a 19th-century marble fireplace occupies what was formerly the waiting room of the abbatial residence. Beyond lies the formal dining room, one of the château’s most impressive interiors, where much of the original Louis XV décor survives intact. Black marble from Solesmes has been used for the fountain, fireplace and fitted sideboards beneath the windows, while the carved stone mantelpiece and decorative architectural details demonstrate the exceptional craftsmanship of the period. A sculpted head of Neptune crowns the fountain surround, adding theatrical elegance to the room.

A secondary vestibule leads to the château’s principal staircase, a beautifully preserved late-17th-century wooden stairway with square balusters. The first section of the staircase is ingeniously concealed within the thickness of the wall, opening onto the library and adjoining reception rooms. Additional spaces on this level include a historic kitchen with monumental fireplace and original cooking range, service rooms, laundry areas, cellar spaces and ancillary accommodation.

The first floor is arranged around a broad central gallery that distributes the family and guest accommodation. Several bedrooms benefit from private bathrooms or washrooms, while additional family rooms, children’s bedrooms and linen rooms provide flexibility for larger-scale occupation. Within the south wing, an independent apartment offers further privacy with its own sitting room, library, kitchen and bedroom suite centred around an elegant 18th-century fireplace.

Above, a substantial attic spans the entire château, presenting significant potential for future development or additional accommodation, subject to the necessary permissions.

Throughout the residence, the château retains a rare sense of authenticity. Original parquet floors, terracotta tiles, fireplaces, stonework, decorative plasterwork and period joinery remain beautifully preserved, creating interiors of exceptional historical continuity. At the same time, the scale and layout of the property lend themselves naturally to modern family life, hospitality projects or prestigious private entertaining.

The estate’s extensive outbuildings include stables, workshops, barns, a tack room, sheepfold, dovecote, former dairy and bakery buildings, together with a recently restored caretaker’s house offering comfortable independent accommodation.

A major highlight of the property is its outstanding equestrian complex, designed to professional standards. Facilities include luxury Röwer & Rüb stables with Regupol flooring, a solarium equipped with UV and infrared lamps, an Olympic-size indoor riding arena with premium Fontainebleau sand and Belgian fibre footing, a fully equipped lunging ring with a diameter of 18 m, built on a compacted crushed-stone foundation, is covered with a mixture of Fontainebleau sand, natural sand and fibres to create a deeper base and extensive wooden paddocks.

The château and numerous architectural elements throughout the estate are protected as Historic Monuments, including the façades, roofs, grand staircase, reception rooms, bedrooms and bridge crossing the stream. The outbuildings and dovecote are additionally listed on the Supplementary Inventory of Historic Monuments, allowing the estate to benefit from the highly advantageous tax regime associated with protected heritage properties.

Combining exceptional history, preserved architectural beauty and world-class equestrian facilities, this is a truly remarkable French country estate of rare distinction.
