Nièvre, Burgundy (Bourgogne-Franche-Comté), between Nevers and Château-Chinon, approximately 2 hours 40 minutes from Paris.
The château is a 30-minute drive from Nevers and a 2 hour 40 minute drive from Paris. There is an aerodrome in Nevers, and a helicopter can land in the château grounds.

Set in the heart of Burgundy’s Nièvre region, this remarkable Historic Monument estate occupies a commanding position above the Aron Valley, surrounded by protected countryside and overlooking the Canal du Nivernais. Located on the edge of a historic village that once served as the seat of an important medieval seigneury, the property combines architectural significance, exceptional gardens and outstanding commercial potential. It is built on high ground and enjoys a magnificent view over the Nièvre countryside.
The Morvan Regional Nature Park is nearby, a preserved natural area.

The estate comprises a magnificent listed château of approximately 1,200 sqm, a secondary château of around 800 sqm, a beautifully converted 13th-century defence tower and more than 12 acres (5 hectares) of landscaped grounds.

The Main Château
Approached through a landscaped English-style park, the château presents an imposing silhouette with its slate roofs, prominent entrance tower and former chapel. Built on a rectangular plan across four levels, the château retains an extraordinary collection of historic architectural features including original fireplaces, wood panelling, stone floors, decorative ceilings and period joinery, all meticulously restored.

The principal entrance is located within a six-storey tower containing a listed spiral staircase. The façades feature elegant mullioned windows and limestone surrounds, while the former chapel, integrated into the château, adds further grandeur and character.

The upper floors accommodate twelve beautifully appointed bedrooms, each with its own bathroom and dressing area, ranging from 12 to 51 sqm. Beneath the impressive roof structure of the former chapel, a magnificent 50 sqm study enjoys a vaulted timber frame resembling an inverted ship’s hull.

Throughout the château, the quality of restoration is exceptional, creating a harmonious blend of historic authenticity and modern comfort.

The Small Château
Originally constructed in the 17th century as the estate’s stables and service buildings, the secondary château offers approximately 800 sqm of interior space.

Arranged over three floors with additional attic accommodation beneath a Mansard slate roof, the building features elegant symmetrical façades with stone detailing and generous volumes throughout. Its separation from the main château makes it ideal for hospitality, events, guest accommodation or commercial activities without impacting the privacy of the principal residence.

The 13th-Century Defence Tower
One of the estate’s most distinctive features is the medieval defence tower, which has been transformed into an extraordinary self-contained residence.

The ground floor offers a reception room with antique terracotta flooring, exposed French ceilings and a striking contemporary metal fireplace created by renowned designer and sculptor Pierre-Marie Le Jeune. A compact kitchen completes the living space.

Upstairs, a unique bedroom with a sculpted bed sits beneath a glazed ceiling revealing the medieval roof structure, complemented by an ultra-contemporary bathroom featuring a glass bathtub.

The estate extends across approximately 5 hectares (12.3 acres) of parkland designed in the early 19th century by celebrated landscape architect Lavenne de Choulot.

The approach winds through mature woodland and bridle paths leading towards the Canal du Nivernais. Beneath the château terraces lies a spectacular contemporary garden that has been awarded the prestigious Jardin Remarquable designation.

This exceptional garden features reflective water basins, sculptural landscaping, flowing boxwood formations inspired by the Nivernais countryside and a private canal running alongside the historic waterway. A formal French garden on the upper terrace connects the château to the medieval tower.

From every part of the estate, breathtaking views extend across the gardens, the Aron Valley and the rolling landscapes of Burgundy.

A Rare Historic Estate
Combining architectural significance, listed status, exceptional restoration and outstanding natural surroundings, this estate represents one of Burgundy’s most remarkable private residences.

The configuration of the château, secondary château and independent tower offers exceptional flexibility for a prestigious family home, luxury hospitality venture, boutique hotel, private members' retreat, seminars, weddings or corporate events. Additional land and buildings may also be available by separate negotiation.

A truly exceptional château estate where history, heritage and contemporary elegance meet in one of France’s most beautiful and unspoilt regions.
