Located between Brive and Périgueux in the heart of the Dordogne, poised on a hillside with sweeping views over the River Auvézère

Magnificent 15th & 18th Century Listed Château – Dordogne

Dating back to the 14th century, this remarkable château lies between Brive and Périgueux in the heart of the Dordogne, poised on a hillside with sweeping views over the River Auvézère. Set in over 29 acres of parkland, formal gardens, woodland, and a serene pond, the estate also includes numerous outbuildings: a caretaker’s cottage, barn, stables, henhouse, and more.

Originally the site of a fortified house guarding ford crossings between Limousin and Périgord, the property was transformed into a noble residence in the 16th century under Noël Souvelin. It later passed through the Pasquet and de Lubersac families before being purchased in 1819 by the current owner’s ancestors, who restored the château after years of neglect. The family lived here while running the forge for over a century, until 1930.

The château today comprises a central main building flanked by two round towers, with a perpendicular wing and a 19th-century square pavilion. Mullioned windows, dormer windows with sculpted pediments, a Renaissance gateway inscribed with the motto Spes Mea Deus, and remarkable stonework all bear witness to its rich past.
