A beautiful and impressive Dordogne castle for sale, built in the 15th and 16th centuries on the side of a hill which explains why inside the staircase reaches the different floors by means of half landings. The oldest part comprises a main building flanked by two 15th century round towers, and a second building adjoining the first, also flanked by two square towers with machicolations from which to hurl down stones, missiles or boiling oil on any would-be invaders.

The chateau
The castle has fifteen principle rooms and a total of approximately 700m2 of living space including three salons, a dining room, a study, a games room, a library, seven bedrooms and six bathrooms. There is a vaulted cellar and many rooms yet to be converted. There are numerous wonderful period features including several Renaissance fireplaces, the most beautiful of which is inscribed ‘ Made by Moy Laviole in the year 1670’ . Floors are largely of stone and ceilings in oak.

Outbuildings;
These are substantial and extend to in excess of 1,000m2. In the courtyard, beyond an old Coaching gateway, there is a vast Barn dating from the 16th Century which has partly preserved the original roof structure and is an ideal place to hold large parties. The courtyard is closed off by an extensive ‘longère’ including a farmhouse, a caretaker’s house, an old wine store or Chai and various workshops. Finally there is a beautiful 17th century round Pigeonnier.

Grounds:
The estate in one piece extends over 44 hectares, including 10 hectares of parkland and meadows, 29 hectares of forest and 5 hectares of farmland (on the edge of the property). It has two large ponds and a spring which supply the water for the automatic watering of the grounds which uses two pumps. Exterior lighting. A swimming pool and a tennis court complete this beautiful property.
The sanitation is up to date and corresponds to EU norms.
