Magnificent chateau for sale 30 km from Chambord.
This exceptional castle is built in the Grande Sologne region, on the border of the wine-growing Sologne, the bocage plateaus of the Touraine Méridionale and the Berry. It stands in the middle of a private and preserved forest that is not disturbed by any easement.

The chateau was constructed at the end of the 15th century by the renowned architect Jacques de Persigny for Lord Philippe du Moulin. The castle's quadriform design is surrounded by a moat and fortified with circular towers at each corner. It comprises two main structures: the dwelling and the manor house, accessible by a dormant drawbridge, and defended by an entrance gatehouse with a postern, flanked by two towers.

THE LODGE:
With an approximate living area of 420 sqm, the dwelling is arranged over five floors:

Ground floor: Featuring a sitting room with a monumental stone fireplace, painted beams, a dining room with a stunningly sculpted stone fireplace, a chapel, and a pantry with a service stairway leading to the basement.

First floor: Comprising a bedroom with an adjoining bathroom and WC, a library, and another WC.

Second floor: Housing two bedrooms, each with a monumental stone fireplace, one of which has an adjoining bathroom, while the other has a WC.

Third floor: Includes a corridor leading to three bedrooms, one of which boasts a cathedral ceiling, a storage room, a bathroom with WC, and a separate WC.

Basement: Featuring a dining room, a kitchen, a boiler room, and a pantry with a service staircase.

THE MANOR:
The manor house retains its defensive elements from the Middle Ages, such as crossbars, machicolations, and barbicans. However, it also showcases Renaissance features like mullioned windows and intricately worked dormers. The manor house is organized as follows:

Ground floor: Comprising a library with a fireplace and stone slab floor, a spiral staircase in the tower, a guard room with a monumental stone fireplace and a pointed ceiling, and a boiler room in the corner tower.

First floor: Featuring a bedroom, a WC, a bedroom with an en-suite bathroom, and another room in the tower.

Second floor: Located above the entrance châtelet, with a bedroom, fireplace, bathroom, and WC in the right tower of the châtelet.

Third floor: Also situated above the entrance châtelet, with a bedroom boasting a cathedral roof, a bathroom, and a WC in the right tower of the châtelet.

This extraordinary chateau is a living testament to the grandeur of the past and stands as a timeless symbol of architectural excellence and historical significance.

The outbuildings surrounding the entrance châtelet are arranged in a U-shaped courtyard and include the following structures:

Caretaker's Cottage: This half-timbered cottage with polychrome brickwork is roofed with flat tiles. It comprises a dining room, kitchen, three bedrooms, a bathroom with WC, and another room with separate access from the outside. The attic space above has three rooms suitable for conversion. There is also a basement below a part of the cottage. The cottage has water, electricity, and heating provided by a wood-burning stove.

"Vegetable Garden" House: Constructed of bricks under tiled roofing, this building consists of various rooms designed for equipment storage, a vegetable store, and a garage. There's an attic space above.

Former Stables: These stables feature six stalls and a garage area suitable for housing several cars. On the upper floor, there are nine bedrooms, most of which have a WC and a bathroom. While electricity, water, and heating are present in this building, some renovation work will be necessary to make it habitable.
Behind these main outbuildings, you'll find additional structures:

Fruit Trees Building: This building houses fruit trees, a honey house, and a laundry. It adjoins the vegetable garden house.

Laundry: A separate building for laundry facilities.

Orangery: The property includes an orangery.

The harmonious layout of these outbuildings around the chateau creates a sense of completeness.

The estate primarily consists of forested areas and a few meadows, offering protection to the site. A network of numerous paths and private footpaths makes it easy to explore the property. The vegetable garden, with its many flowerbeds, adds a more delicate dimension to the landscape.

In total, the estate spans nearly 98.8 acres (40 hectares) of undisturbed land. It is subject to a simple management plan and perfectly encapsulates the character of the Sologne region, known for its biodiversity, tranquility, and the serenity found in the midst of forests and waterholes.
