Unique feudal Chateau for sale, steeped in history and rumoured to be the last resting place of Richard Coeur de Lion after he was injured fatally at the siege of Chalus. The fortress dates from the 12th–15th centuries and has been entirely restored by the present owner. Situated in the heart of the regional park of the Périgord and Limousin, the castle is approximately 40 kms from Limoges. In front of the Chateau is a moat dating from the 16th century on the site of the original wooden fort with its granite foundations. How this granite base came into existence is still a mystery.  The chateau which has around 30 rooms has a lift in the keep, a spiral stone staircase, a wooden spiral staircase and various other secondary staircases.
The Chateau has been restored and furnished in the spirit of the period with all modern comforts. All windows are double glazed. All the wood panelling, decorative work, doors windows and wood work have been made by hand. The ground floor has underfloor heating and the upper floors, radiators. Central Siemens PBX, cordless telephone system with 7 lines.  High speed internet connectivity of 2 megabits by satellite and 10 networked Macintosh computers.
