For sale is a 14th-century listed chateau located in the heart of Saintonge Romane. Designated as a Historic Monument in the late 1980s, the entire property enjoys protection for its main architectural elements. The castle is shaped as an irregular hexagonal enclosure, featuring curtain walls over 12m high with arrow slits and topped with a rampart walk that remains predominantly on the main facade.
Surrounded by a dry moat, there are indications that it may have been fed by a nearby stream. To the south, adjacent to the wall, the ruins of a substantial square tower, updated in 1993, suggest the presence of an original keep. Access to the castle is through a stone overhang supporting two operational drawbridges—one defending the large ogival door and the other leading to the postern.
The chateau is in need of renovation. A spacious interior courtyard provides access to both the chateau and the outbuildings.
