The château is in a peaceful and preserved village, with privacy, peace and quiet as a bonus. It opens out mainly onto its grounds, with the distant horizon as its main view.
The most imposing builiding is the Gothic Revival château, impressive and in the style of Viollet le Duc, with a slender aspect, glazed with its deep bays, topped with steep roofs surmounted with a frieze and framed with towers and turrets, a fine example from this splendid period. Of hard limestone, the decorative elements have withstood the passage of time.
The château includes
Garden level The former kitchens, still intact, the well and pump, the wood or coal burner, pantries, the laundry, the cellar heating and the linen room.
Upper ground floor an ante chamber , the small and large salons, the dining room, the office and service staircase.
First floor A vestibule, two bedrooms each with a bathroom and WC. The biggest bedroom is 45m2 with 4 metre high ceilings and is lined with white oak wood panelling.
Second floor from a service stairway and a spiral staircase as an extension of the main staircase, a central corridor leads to 8 chambermaids' bedrooms, a bathroom, a library in the main tower, lit at intervals and offering panoramic views like a belvedere.
Each floor has 180m2 surface area. Notable are the decorative and architectural elements, in particular the staircase which sits on an arrangement of columns, adorned with chimera, acanthus, vines etc. The salon has arches with decorated corbels, as well as the fireplaces, one with figures set in spaces.
Adjacent to this is the second older château which communicates by its gallery over two floors. From the 16th century it was remodelled in the 18th and 19th centuries.
Ground floor several entrances, 2 salons, a dining room, kitchen, office, boiler room and WC. It goes without saying the rooms feature marble sculpted fireplaces, moulded ceilings or with exposed beams.
First floor reached by the main stone staircase and a hidden staircase, a corridor leading to 6 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms, 2 washrooms with WCs.
Second floor 6 further bedrooms , mansarded ceilings and 4 bathrooms.
Surface area per floor is 210m2
The overall surface area for both châteaux is about 1350m2
The roofs are new ( 2017-2018) , sanitation is not up to standard, the heating system in the older castle is provided by a 10 year old De Dietrich boiler for oil fired heating. The decorations and plaster work are needing attention. IN the gothic revival caste there is very limited modern comfort but beautiful oak carpentry.
Outbuildings form a closed courtyard of walls and a gate with two masonry columns, with access to the village.
On the left there is a first building , remodelled in the gothic style with the stables, the former caretaker's house, now in need of renovation and the car parking.
On the right are more stables, storage space and garden equipment storage, an orangery and a drying room.
A fine park with mature trees and with glimpses of far reaching countryside views also provides for horses with its grazing. An attractive kitchen garden, partially walled and moated, with fruit trees, vines and a greenhouse exist for cultivation purposes.
This fascinating property could suit the needs of one or several families , or become a commercial venture.
