Land: 114 ha
A noble terroir rediscovered. This extremely attractive Provençal Château and out-buildings (silk wormery, farm buildings, sheepfold, and bread oven) are spread over 1 000m2 of habitable space. The Château is particularly welcoming with its vast vaulted 70m2 kitchen and 9 bedrooms. The sitting room and chapel ceilings are also vaulted and cover 90m2.
Set deep in the heart of its lands, there is a certain « Sleeping Beauty » quality to this Château. With wooded hills, terraces natural springs and lakes, and a one hundred-year-old driveway, the property is spread over 114ha of forest, vineyard, olive grove, riverside and prairie. The greatest care was taken when restoring the 17th century Aixois facade, as indeed with the renovation of the 800m2 bastide which was undertaken with the highest regard for traditional building material. With the setting sun, the view from the vast terrace stretches over a wild landscape of hills and cypress trees to the Sainte Victoire Mountain.
Exterior: The 400m2 of terracing provide spectacular views over the Provencal countryside, and lead on to the formal garden with its ponds, fountains, wash house and extensive vegetable garden, the water being sourced from a natural spring. The tennis court has been discretely situated, 200m into the forest .
Built ex-nihilo, the chapel and nave have been reconstructed true to original form with scrupulous attention to quality and detail.
The traditionally Aix-style facade and staircase date unequivocally from 1784. The approach thorough an alley of cedar and chestnut
trees was planted in 1848. Yet older still are the 16th century door, the vaulted sheepfold and the unearthed Gallo-Roman remains.
The present owners have also recreated the ornamental Provencal gardens with French-style borders and rose-covered pergolas.
The vineyard has been worked organically since 2008 and is almost entirely classed in AOP Coteaux Varois en Provence. The vines’ being layed out over a series of terracing allows for great depth and variety of terroir and exposure to the elements. The winery was built in 2003 and is fully funtional with up-to-date equipement and stainless steel tanks. The tasting room is used for private sales of this wine which enjoys a particularly strong reputation on the export market
